Design a plugin interface (similar to J2SE ImageIO) whereby nD coverages may be
stored and recalled from a persistent format (e.g., NetCDF, HDF, GeoTIFF).
This interface must be capable of communicating CRS information as metadata
(use ISO-19115?). Each plugin should be responsible for producing the correct
metadata for the dataset, whether all the metadata is contained in the file or
some of it is "assumed" due to the data source (e.g., spectral responses
hardcoded into the MODIS plugin.)
