I would like to get the word complex out of there; I would prefer to
use the word feature and make simple feature an optimization that
has to be talked about when applicable.
Does creating a gt-feature module sound okay to you?

Its not very appropriate... yes we need to support complex types, but its
really all about the stability of the contract between service and client.
Surely the JIRA should match the packaging in the code?
