I had a pleasant IRC chat going over some short term planning items:
- http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOT-3050 Factory Param Utility Class
- http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOT-3051 SimpleFeatureCollection to remove
generics from example code
- replacing default feature collection with something that is fast and working
- sprint to perform a "bug stomp" closing outdated or wont fix items (we guess
several hundred can be removed)
Andrea also reports that the user list is alive with activity around a better
default feature collection implementation (I am afraid I am not caught up on
the discussion). We had perviously though of organising a bug stomp sprint in
mid may.
If there is actually user list activity around a default feature collection it
may be an opportunity for a short sprint producing a high performance in memory
feature collection:
- needs to be its own sprint - different mandate after all
- replace existing default feature collection implementation
- good opportunity for developer out reach
If geotools-devel is keen on the idea we could set up a time and then invite
members of the user list to be on hand for testing feedback etc. Usual idea is
to do a Friday/Saturday to allow both those working and volunteering a chance
to participate.
