I'm not sure if I understand your question properly but it sounds like
you're unclear about what rendering is (?) Basically it's just
drawing, on the screen or elsewhere, and doesn't involve modifying the
features in your shapefile.

I just wanted to know, if i were to have a shapefile representing a map
of Leeds say, why would i use Render to draw the map if i already have on? I
mean, if you have the shapefil you want can you still use Render to change
it?
