_____ From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of TUN MYINT Sent: Friday, April 25, 2008 5:18 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Ecopolitics] CALL FOR PAPERS: The State of International Environmental Institutions Dear Colleagues: I am organizing a panel for the International Studies Association Annual Conference to be held on February 15-18, 2009 in New York City, NY, U.S.A. I would like to invite colleagues who would be interested in presenting papers for the panel. The following is the description of the panel. --- THE STATE OF INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL INSTITUTIONS This panel assesses the state of international environmental institutions within the growing literature of institutional designs, adaptability, and robustness with regard to global environmental governance. The panel aims at contributing empirical understanding of international environmental institutions and advancing theories and methods to study these institutions. In so doing, the panel asks the following questions. What are the challenges in designing international institutions in light of local-global linkages and dynamics? How do phenomena of globalization shape the nature and dynamic of international institutions? What lessons can we learn from successes and failures of local socio-ecological and economic institutions? How do we assess resilience, vulnerability, and adaptability of international environmental institutions? This panel welcomes papers that address these and relevant questions from multidisciplinary and multi-layer perspectives. If you are interested in joining the panel, please send abstract of your paper and detailed contact information to [EMAIL PROTECTED] by May 25, 2008.
