Well deleting the cache directory didn't work but just using the ID
seems to be OK.
On another machine I had no problems with quite large playlist.

Its called entropy in science. If you convert say a WAV or LAC to MP3
you will loose a lot of data as the file is comressed. You will lose
the high frequences. That's what YouTube does. The sound will be
muddy. If you convert from MP3 to FLAC or WAV the sound will still be
muddy. Data once removed

As you suspect, there is no value in losslessly re-encoding something that is
already lossy encoded. If the re-encoding process is perfect you'll still just
end up with a perfect copy of the original lossy recording.
