Just as a general note, with the push towards regular releases at 6 month
intervals whose final release doesn’t drag out 2-3 month after the expected
release date, I think, having few items on the status page is a Good Thing. So,
let’s not cram too much in, as Ben wrote, 8.6 will not be that
Any ideas anyone? When I restart the build, it gets past the blockage (which
seems highly specific). But it’s jolly annoying.

Thanks for getting back to me.
(I think you mean `git clean -x -f -d`): I usually omit -x but I'll give
it a go and report back.
Before I got the issue on a clean checkout I thought it was something I
did to the build files.
I also tried building the latest release of libffi (v3.2.1) and
I’ll try to update the page when I’m back from VN.
