It is already possible to change the Tab Style for dockable dialog tabs.
Right now however, this needs to be done on a per-tab level, using 'Tab
Style' in the Tab menu for each dockable.
It is cumbersome to manage the tab style on a per-tab level, so I
suggest we make this a global

and why in different rows, paralleling. and then I _can_ see that it

sense for some users to have (like in your shot) layers+channels+paths

Some nits ,some -- especially (2) and (4) -- bigger than others...
(1) The file-export dialogue action button says save, not export
(sounds really minor but given the save/export changes, can actually
be confusing)
(2) The default save location should not be ~/Documents in the case that
