Yeah, I think the fixed checker might be nice - but the speed is more
important here, esp
to
them. Much like our "Ctrl to pick color" -shortcut.
But it is not that big of a deal for me. Maybe it might be a good thing
to zoom centered on the pointer. I just zoom in all the way and use the
navi popup (which is *great* by the way) to find the right spot.

use truetype fonts directly from files.
I use that myself with my webcam script to add the date and time and
caption for example.

I am getting these things a LOT on debian/ppc machine running Xfree 4.1
and the debian gimp packages. The symptoms are as follows: at some
point, seems to be related to undo, Save, Save As etc get grayed out
from the menus. I also get the following on the terminal. This time it
