easily, our users will not any longer know what software they are

IMO it is too much of a compromise to even consider a name change.

It would be better to have "Deluxe Edition" as an
optional prefix. DE-GIMP appropriately means to cure
from lameness. We could continue to use the GIMP
name and not lose any name-recognition in the process.
