Exactly which functions handle the low-level actual enlargement or
shrinking of display? I'd like to write MMX versions for them.
[If you use HEAD Gimp, then you should test my current MMX stuff.
It so far only handles layer modes.]

Try 1.1.29 with the included gettext. It should work fine.

I compiled Gimp under Solaris with --with-included-gettext. Trying to run
it with LANG=fr... does not yield anything translated. Nevertheless, Gimp
seems to load the translation file (seen in strace).
Has anyone else noticed this behavior, or is it my setup?

Paste as new is only available as a menu option in a menu that only exists
when an image is already open. This is not only stupid, it is also
conterintuitive for users.
I suggest we add it in the main menu.
