Since that only works for jailbroken phones, this would be a lot of work in
return for a small audience. Better to target an open platform.

Take a look at http://www.gimp.org/develop/, which says: "GIMP is Free
Software and a part of the GNU Project." The GNU Project, in turn, is

"Color depth" is the normal term in
saves.

Yes, definitely. This is important.

That would be fine thing to say if Krita were the same kind of software, but
it is not. (Specifically, is "the

p, I
don't think there's anything else that offers layers, curves, and a healing
brush. I use those things all the time in quick JPEG editing. (The layers
only temporarily, of course -- I'll be looking forward to adjustment layers
when that work is done.)
If we had a whole toolbox
more sophisticated option might be: do not prompt on close when an image
is exported to the same file it was imported from.
This is very narrow, and it in fact the future planned work *should* take it
into account.

they're users who care a lot. In the case of creating a bugzilla account or

Some options have high cost and only benefit an obscure case. In *this*
case, the cost is relatively small (one option which is a refinement of an
option that's always been there) and the *reward for the project* is high.

. Much more often,
I use GIMP to crop and rescale a handful of JPG photos I took with my
camera on a hike.
I realize that this is a polarized issue. But I don't think the developers
would lose any face to admit that, okay, this other use case is common and
should be covered.
at explains why config options have a cost, not why they are bad. I think
that's well understood. All features have costs.

But, Gimp has had a similar but less useful option (prompt or never prompt
at all) for basically all time. This would be a relatively small change with
a big positive impact.

If there were an option to not prompt when closing an exported image, I
could (as before) be comfortable in knowing that any image that closes
without prompting is safe, and that if I'm not done yet, I'll get a warning.

I think the idea of a lightweight fork is a good one. It's the cheap, easy
way to demonstrate user demand.
since the core developers here
are pretty much set against the idea, it's probably more constructive than
arguing.

nicely intuitive, since 1 and shift-1 are two almost-inverse operations. Any
chance of making that the default?
