This whole idea of refusing it operate on other file formats is
artificial, contrived and obstructive.
Yesterday I found some other corollary problems that this flawed
behaviour introduces.
I was scanning some macro shots for file negative, the scanner software
produces huge tiff files
; but regardless of whichever one is currently shown, it
performs ultimately the same function: Exporting back to the same
non-XCF file with no questions asked. Why does there even need to be
two different internal functions (file-export and file-overwrite) to
handle this ONE behavior?

If the image is unsaved it would could a classic "untitled-xxx" A name
will be given as / when needed but at least that would at least i
issue. Since I cancelled it cannot "redo"
anything. Where does it get the parameters to redo something I never did.
