Yes, it is a little more trouble, but you'd be surprised how easy it is

For what it is worth, I forward my email to gmail, and it seems to handle it

I've installed Gimp on my Mac OSX and WinXP, and I've noticed a few
things are missing that are present in the Linux version.
1) letter-spacing in the text tool
2) Bringing up the color palette and saving a color when using the eye-dropper.
