I apologise for creating noise on this forum for a non-GIMP problem,
but many thanks to Ofnuts for helping me on my way.

Garnetts Corner, Braintree Road, Felsted, Dunmow, Esse
ment, is to convert it. All variations on
-colorspace fail to have any effect (on IM 6.6.3-10), and
-profile appears to be unrecognised. On GIMP there is a 'Rearrange
colormap' but it's greyed out: presumably the jpg has no colormap.
I'll plough on through Google (I have o
(approximately negative) colours, and I need a
scriptable method to restore them.

onwards to 8x6 and 4x3, i.e. 12 pixels. Or even onwards to two pixels,
then one.
Now send me the one pixel and ask me to reverse the process. Could I
reproduce for you your nice 640x480 graphic?

An MS Windows desktop icon is in the .ico format. It means "Icon"
format. A .ico format is well known too, as it is almost every icon's
format.
How can I edit a .ico file in the Gimp? My version (2.06 on FreeBSD) does
not recognise them at present.
