I recently buy both books, Beginning GIMP: From Novice to Professional, by Akkana Peck, and GIMP 2 for Photographers, by Klaus Goelker. Very easy understanding and reading are from (I dont speak and read english so much). Totally recommendable. Best regards... José R. Figueroa G. Sierra
