My GIMP was installed with the RPM shipped with RedHat 6.0. It refuses
to open GIF-files.
Is this a known problem? Can somebody tell me what to do about it?

i'd like to restate my problem. Maybe somebody can help me out:
When trying to open .gif files the opening 'hangs' and i need to cancel
the action. On the console i get the following message 2 times when
trying to open one .g
