Nope, GIMP can only work with image files stored locally on your own computer. To actually display one of these images across the Internet you need an Internet website you can upload the image file to -- what we generally call an "image host". There are many sites out there you can register o

This is not actually a GIMP question, Scangear is its own separate utility. (I have an HP scanner and its scan utility is called PrecisionScan. Every scan utility works slightly different.) Still, have you searched Scangear's help files and/or documentation for the option to change your scan
