or 32 bit TIFF file. I've been waiting for high bit TIFF support, downloaded
2.8.10 and it will import at least a 16 bit filebut with a whole window full
of errors that I can't read before it goes away. They don't

I'm wondering if you don't have the docks hidden. I also got tricked
by this a few times, the first times I was trying GIMP. Hi the Tab key
(or check the menu Windows Hide Docks) to check if that's your
problem.
