Gimp is a RGB
As the title says. I'm on Windows 10 x64. Using the latest installer for 2.8.18.
Installation goes smoothly, however when I boot the program it sparks a "has
stopped working" message at the "updating tag cache" point. Tried previous
version 2.8.16, same thing. Tried installing just the 'compact' in
It's possible you have a lot of fonts and it's still cataloging them. You
may want to wait a little while for it to start up the first time.

I've got some 300 fonts, 200 of which are from Windows/Office (I guess) and some
100 from another software package I use. Is that a lot?
Do you mean waiting before booting gimp at all, or giving gimp more time to
complete the startup? The latter doesn't work, as it just crashes out of the
boot sequ
When you say "crashes out of the boot sequence", what exactly happens? Does
the window just turn pale and sit there?

This advice destroys all evidence that could be used to track down the
issue. Please suggest renaming instead of deleting.

I read some tips somewhere else and renamed it instead of deleting :) but it's
hopeless anyway as it's still the first start of the program anyway. There's
nothing in the profile.

One thing I can suggest is that you download my GIMP builds from my
website. You can download the portable version or the regular version.
Install it and run it. If it works, you are good to go. If it crashes, we
can look at the crash log to see what's going on.

Please do the following. I
n your $TEMP folder (typically C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Temp)
there will be a file called __gimprun-2.8-run.log. Please send me this file
at my email address listed on my website.
