Latest version is 2.8.14. My usage in Jan 2013 said ver 2.8.2. Obviously
different, so what happened to versions?
I'm trying to make some business cards. It is NO help that text point size
keeps going to 2.2,for direct or pasted entry. This suffices to kill Gimp. What

Hello Experts
Because I started this thread, I should comment.
I once spent a year of intense image editing in photoshop. Now I
only occasionally use PS or GIMP, so esoteric capabilities
are far less important than ease of getting back into harness.
Simply combining image snippets is now easier i

Hello Gimp-user-list
I resized two images, made a new page canvas, copied and pasted both,
opened grid. I can only move one image, can't toggle to other. Layer
stack commands are all grayed out, except "reverse layer order" which
does nothing. Pg-up/dn keys do nothing. "Align" does nothing.

Ah ha! Per http://docs.gimp.org/2.8/en/gimp-concepts-shortcuts.html
I now have ctrl-alt-g as toggle.

Hello Gimp-user-list
I suggest a key combo for this, for any tool open.
Also, I sometimes find no grid because the config is back to the
miniscule spacing. Is a saved image/template a good way to control
this? I'm not sure whether global variables would be better, subject
to override-reset within

Hello Gimp-user-list
Perhaps manual would anticipate more questions to user-list if there were a
draft/w.i.p. version to insert notes.
For example: 5.20, "You can set the default for the rulers in the Image Window
Appearance dialog." images differ from latest release.

Hello Gimp-user-list
One thing Photoshop now does well is to modify text: Select Layer,
click, edit... including content, font, and size & units.
On GIMP2, I can select similarly, but edit options seem not to allow
easy change of text or properties. Attempting to highlight or select

Hello Gimp-user-list
I used grid on one file, made a new file, defaulted to no grid.
'Show grid' did not show grid. Alt-f4, restart, still no visible grid.
Config had been changed to zero size. I reset to 0.1 inch, still no grid.
Have not tried reboot.

Hello Gimp-user-list
Can't directly save to jpg, so exported.
Export to jpg made png. Same for psd.
Shouldn't name track chosen format, so no manual override needed?

My image-menu shows 'configure grid' but not show+/-, in ver 2.8.2 Win7.

Hello Gimp-user-list
User manual does not mention resolution.
US-Letter template is 300ppi. Setting an image to higher res does not stick.
I had used PhotoShop at 1200ppi for edits and merges, then saved final as 300
to 600 dpi for printing. How can I do similar in GIMP?
