here, here. i agree whole-heartedly. gimp is a raster (pixel) based program
while inkscape is a vector (number) based program which produces "smooth"
outlines. scribus is a page layout program that handles the job of
combining raster images, vector images and text into a neat package

i found out that 2.10.10 has a rawtherapee plugin in the program. install
rawtherapee and when you open a raw file it opens rawtherapee, although
unlike the version of gimp with ufraw, be sure to check (if on a mac) the
dock to bring rawtherapee to the front of gimp.

and use true type, open type and mac type1 fonts. when i install the type1
fonts, gimp breaks, if i place them in another directory and link to gimp
