I am a 78 yr old female, not professional, but I have been using the
GIMP for 20 years, doing photo editing that is pretty simple. I am not a
nerd/geek, my husband is. Most things on this list are way over my head.
We use Kubutu operating system. GIMP has changed a lot of things lately

If you double click on the brush, you'll also get a dialog box with some
setting for that tool. The easiest thing I've found lately about
changing brush size is to simply put the cursor on the canvas to see
what size it is, then I just hit the left bracket [ key to make it
smaller and the right
Well, I have no idea why it happened, but since I wrote this earlier
today, my lasso tool completes the selection when I click once on the
start point, and there is no longer a line extended. I have no idea why
this happened! But it works great now. Who knows?

I'm no Gimp guru, but I have had this problem, with the line still
staying. I've just learned to hit the Move tool, and the line goes away.
