Doc target fails to parse user-manual.xml

Hi, I'm installing git 1.9.0 from source, on a freshly installed SLES 11 SP3. The git binaries work fine to compile and install, but `make doc` fails on some XML parsing errors. The system is fully updated with the latest stable packages in the SLES 11 SP3 distribution. What I've done is: -
