Thank you Krishnan! As soon as i did a "gluster peer detach web4" from
web3, then "gluster peer probe {web3, web4}" from web1 worked. I wish there
would have been an error message of "web4 already in a cluster" instead of
"unknown errno 107".

sorry, I did finally recall the answer myself:
disable file locking in the /etc/nfsmount.conf file with the line Lock=False
this is described here:

stop all volumes, start all volumes

Yes, it is possible to setup Geo-rep non root user in Slave. As of now
we have many manual steps like editing volfile etc. We are trying to
simplify the manual editing steps(patch:
