Here's the basic concept behind what my answer would be if I wasn't

Sorrt for the stupid subject and for questions that probably should be
pleaced in FAQ page, but,
let's assume a replica 3 cluster made with 3 servers (1 brick per server)
1) can I add a fourth server, with one brick, increasing the total
available space? If yes, how?
2) can I increase replica
Yes, I have enabled bitrot process and it's currently running signer
process in some nodes.
Disabling and enabling bitrot doesn't makes difference it will start crawl
process again right.

Have you enabled bitrot? If not then
Hi Pranith,
if I restart glusterd service in the node alone will it work. bcoz I feel
that doing volume force start will trigger bitrot process to crawl disks in
all nodes.
yes, rebalance fix layout is on process.

This is under review at https://review.gluster.org/16228 . The patch
mostly looks fine.
The only issue is that it currently depends and links with an internal
FB fork of tirpc (mainly for some helper functions and utilities).

Hi Serkan,
Even though bitrot is not enabled, versioning was being done.
As part of it, on every fresh lookup, getxattr calls were
made to find weather object is bad, to get it's current version
and signature. So a find on gluster mount sometimes would cause
high cpu utilization.
Since this is

You should post the URI of your try.
For me follwing URI works:
How this affect CPU usage? Does it read whole file and calculates a
hash after it is being written?
Will this patch land in 3.10.x?

Hi Abhishek,
As this is an enhancement it won't be back ported to 3.7/3.8/3.10
It would be only available from upcoming 3.11 release.
But I did try applying it to 3.7.6. It has lot of conflicts.
If it's important for you, you can upgrade to latest version.

Hello everyone,
Currently one of the production gluster nodes is consuming a lot of
memory, in particular the gluster NFS process makes great use of SWAP
memory and does not release it.
It happens to someone else?
