What's /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern set to for you? For me it is
% cat /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern
core
which will drop a core file in the working directory of the process.

The other scenario is, the files are named similarly and they are
accessed one after the other.
You might want to take a look at Bareos: https://www.bareos.org,
https://www.bareos.com
Bareos has a plug-in integration with Glusterfs which facilitates Gluster
as a source as well as a destination for their Backup and Restore
Application.
