LVM caching seems like a sensible solution, although compared to the hot/cold
separation of tiered volumes, it actually reduces the overall storage capacity.
Does LVM caching work cleanly with Gluster’s snapshot feature?

It's indeed dropped, I think it's in favor of more native options. The go
to replacement is lvm-cache (
