This is not exactly what I am looking for, because I don't want to
extrude an imported mesh, but import a geometry and extrude the mesh
created by gmsh.
Still, this inspired me to try the following workaround:
1. Import a geometry and mesh it

Ok, if you really need to work on the imported mesh, you should probably have a
look at this archived topic:
http://onelab.info/pipermail/gmsh/2017/01.html. Two solutions have been
there discussed to tackle a problem quite similar to yours.

Extruding from native gmsh geometry works fine.
Is the Extrude command not supporte
