These are managed switches. Management would like ot keep unused ports available for emergencies and not have to go into the switch management feature to enable the port in a hurry. We are currently setting up vlans as well to hopefully fix the issues we're having, but turning off or limiting

Weird Bind issue

This started cropping up last week. Our DNS server is running fine, then for no reason it dies with this error: exiting (due to assertion failure) Anybody have any ideas, we've been plugging away at this problem for 3 days now, it's getting VERY annoying.

Would it be reasonable to put the switches in small locking cabinets? Black Box sells a 2U locker for $235 (RM425A). I'm sure others do as well, and probably cheaper. Most of them are. There's three that are in our shared suite space. That black box thing you sent a link to is interesting,
