ten years and they said that ALL domains are
only ever registered for one year and that a

Tangentially, if you're looking to get out from under a registrar,
EasyDNS will honor the years you've paid for as long as you buy an
additional year from them.
If the supposition you pose is true, that's twice as nice as I had
thought.

recently (for some reason GoDaddy doesn't seem to allow 10 year
registrations).
Whether that is GoDaddy doing it every year automatically, I have no idea.

GoDaddy cannot offer 10 year *renewals*.
