What: Qt Designer (Graphic User Interface Toolkit)
Who: Robert Anderson
Where: UNH Morse Hall Room 301, Durham, NH
Day: Monday 12 June 2006
Time: 7pm to 9pm

The Qt graphics toolkit from Trolltech comes with an impressive design tool
called QtDesigner. This tool allows you to design and test a Graphical User
Interfaces (GUI), as well as make modifications after the back end code has
been created. Qt is a C++ toolkit, but there are hooks for other languages as
well. Python, Perl and Ruby all have Qt Application Programmer Interfaces
(API) and can use QtDesigner generated code for both Qt version 3 and 4.

During the meeting we will use QtDesigner to:

  1. Create a couple Graphical User Interfaces (GUI)

  2. Show in Python and C++ how to get them up on the screen and
start generating the backend code required to make them functional.

  3. Go back and change the GUI as a demonstration of how well this tool
     really works.

Web Links to example code will be provided for further exploration.
