The following file is being downloaded in what seems to be binary
format: http://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/glade3/HEAD/po/pt_BR. Since
Vertimus does a validation with msgfmt before uploading, I'm wondering
if it is server related?

I think he is talking about the attachments.
There was a bug that has been fixed (but the previous uploaded ones
remains with .po extension).

You can download the file and change it's extension too.

Ok, turns out the translator had added a tar.gz (or some other
combination) and the extension was changed to .po. So you can imagine
what vim would display when opening such a file. :)
