ld will, indeed, fail. Running ldconfig once as root should
fix that. 'Scuse the multiple posts, it's rather hot here and I didn't

introduction of accounting periods into gnucash requires a change of the
data format...

db looks very good to me. I concur with
my predecessors in this thread: Let's think about using it. The
advantages of the Berkeley db are too great to ignore.
