Forgot to add that release 5.8 starts so fast that the splash screen never
gets all the way to the display

I might as well chip in also.
For me, a minimum amount of time for a splash screen is acceptable 2 or 3
seconds followed by self-dismissal. If I have to manually dismiss it, I'll
find a way to turn it off if at all possible. For those who don't want one at
all an option to uncheck is great.

very long list that is more than one screen
So, there is no way to get to the No/Yes items at the bottom of the popup.
So, I clicked on the X at the top right of the popup to kill it.
