Hello,
I'm using GnuCash 4.4 (from Flathub) on Ubuntu with the Cinnamon
desktop. When I am tabbing through fields in a register, the field
contents are not selected. So before I can change them, I need to select
the text some how, such as Ctrl+A. Any idea why this would be acting
like this?
ou tell me if
there's other ways to just delete the existing gnucash
files/installation and just start over?
Thanks,
Derek

Thank you everybody. I did build it on Ubuntu 18. I thought that was
implied by the fact I was running version 4.1, since the package
solved it
and gave up. (I use Mac as my daily driver)
I would think there is a file with a requirement for 1.65 hardcoded in error, when
it should be looking for >= 1.65.

Hello,
I recently updated from Ubuntu 18.04 to Ubuntu 20.04. Wh

Libboost is only available in version 1.67 and 1.71 on the distro's

Nice to know about the htmltopdf package. On Ubuntu, the closest I found
was wkhtmltopdf.
But Ubuntu does have Print to PDF built in, and it works great. I'll be
using my Ubuntu system more often than the Windows 7 in the long run
anyway.
Thanks

Thanks, that clears some of the mud for me. Thanks for recommending Bullzip,
Adrien. I was wishing for a Windows 7 option like that.

Thank you once again David. Your detailed explanations helped to fill
in some of my blank spots in understanding the build process.

GnuCash has the neat feature of duplicating a transaction when you copy
the description. What's the best way to update/change the amount? Right
now I edit the Debit, then tab to the credit and type in the amount
again. If I forget that step the amount is put into an Orphan/Imbalance
account.

and noting the Mailman logo, looked it up, and am working at setting up
my own system, hoping to put Google Groups out of business (in our

Much appreciated!

Sorry David, my previous email didn't go to the group. Here's my problem
with a little more detail.
When I try to launch GnuCash I get this error:

Once you use it, you won't know how you managed without it.

Hello,
That makes sense, David and John. Thanks. According to this list Ubuntu 20
supports Gnucash 3.8
https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/allpackages?format=txt.gz
Are there any major advantages and improvements to versions 3 and 4?

Hello Fellow GnuCashers,
I installed GnuCash from Ubuntu software (Ubuntu 18.04), and it is
version 2.6.19. But I see the latest release on gnucash.org is 4.1. Why
is mine so far behind, and when can I expect the upgrades to come
through Ubuntu's distribution?
Thanks,
Derek Zehr
