You may be remembering a thread you started
Norbert,
You are remembering a thread where the suggestion was to create accounts in the
second currency for the major areas you anticipate tracking find in Riel.
To wit:
Expenses
- Groceries

Thanks – moving on; I followed this:
1) Just create a new file:
File -> New File (I called it spf2)
2) Save to a folder in your personal workspace. Just like you'd do with
your personal word processing files. - (I did it into gnucash on Documents)
Now I get the list of
Asets
Equity
Expenses
Save to a folder in your personal workspace. Just like you'd do with your

BUT I got: ...may be on a read-only file system ...
Narberth,
That message means that GnuCash did not find and open an existing data file
so it is expecting you to create a new one. Thus Derek's answer.

Self introduction: I am Norbert Klein, a 88 year old German, living
since 32 years in Cambodia.
Some years ago, I had been using GnuCash on a computer running under Ubuntu.
Some months ago, I wanted to set up GnuCash again, this time on a
computer using Windows - but before I could move
