Interesting! I never tried transaction cut/copy/paste within the same file
because I thought it would not do anything noticeable. Today I tried
copying a transaction in one account register and pasting into another
account register and found that the transaction line belonging to the

GnuCash V3.5.on Linux Mint Tessa. I can cut,copy and paste transactions
within the same book in the same instance of the program, but not between
separate instances of GnuCash. Not sure about between different books opened
sequentially in the same instance of the program. (To go between
