Jill,
Stylesheets *are* global in that any one of them can be applied to any report.
There's one stylesheet named Default that all standard reports use unless told
otherwise in report options, so if you want a change to apply to all
reports--and you probably do in this case--then you edit the

argh! gotcha! Sorry, only just started using latest version of Gnu
after installing a new hard-drive. Thought style sheets would simply be
global!
Working now - thanks so much John

Did you change the style sheet in report options to point to your new style
sheet? There's no need to restart GnuCash. If you change the report option it
will reload the report for you, but if you only edit the selected stylesheet
you'll need to

I have a problem in that the font size in reports is tiny!
Searching for the answer, I created a gtk-3.0.css file with the
following, and placed it in appdata > roaming > gnucash

I tried various sizes and fonts and it worked - except on the reports,
which remained
There is no ‘built-in’ CSS for GnuCash. You have to create the file. If it
already exists, that means you created it long ago.
The first location will apply to only GnuCash.
The second will apply to all GTK apps you have installed on the system.
The GTK3 page of the wiki should explain it more
Here is the confusing part that I see
You say C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\GnuCash\gtk.css
Do you put the CSS here to override the built-in ?
I do have it in C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\gtk-3.0\gtk.css
Why is it here and not the other, I don't know. Maybe from upgrading from a

Excellent, thank you Adrien.

It belongs in:

I don’t recall if the Win7 version of Notepad can create proper plain text

Place the following in the file:

Save the file as: gtk-3.0.css

Look in the "Users/AppData/Roaming/GnuCash" folder for a file named
"gtk-3.0.css". Edit the file and change the font to something you like. I
changed mine to "font: 15px consolas, sans-serif;" and save the new version
in the same folder. Reopen GnuCash and you should be good to go.

Nope, not yet anyway. I just try to help out as much as I can on the list, but
thanks! (that *was* quite a long thread that did a deep dive into customizing
the UI. And it was very much a team effort.)

Actually, there are several rabbit holes there but they mostly relate to
the operating system that your instance of GnuCash happens to be running in.
As Tommy Trussell mentions, we cannot help much without knowing which you
are using. It would be very difficult to make a FAQ entry that would not

What operating system are you using? How did you install GnuCash?
I looked in the FAQ
How can I increase the font size in the journal registers or the system in
general?

For simplicity,

is the minimum needed to change the size. You can use the shorthand ‘font’
property as you indicated, but you have to include the font-family for it to
work. Of course, using it, you can also change the font if you wish.

Take a look at the wiki concerning GTK3.

Hello, I am Mac user and I have recently downloaded the version 3.3 of GNUCash.
Unfortunately with this version, the overall fonts are too big and I would like
to make them smaller.
Any Idea how to do it?
Thanks a lot
