'CITIZEN' HUGO DE SOUZA IS DEAD Margao, May 25
Shri Hugo de Souza (69), from Raia, Salcete, who always took pride in saying that above all he was a 'citizen,' died in the Mission Hospital, Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, says a fax message received by his friends in Margao. Adept at what not, Hugo basically called himself a theoretician. During student days he was always a rank holder. He had done his graduation at St. Xaviers in Bombay, had LLB to his credit and further was a gold medallist in journalism. Hugo was a regular columnist of A Vida daily of yesteryears and thereafter the editor of Konkani daily 'Divtti' which played important role during and after the opinion poll. ' There are many wise people in this world with solutions,' Hugo used to say, ' but for me I would prefer to remain a Simple Simon.' One only knew him of what stuff he was made at a discussion table at his house or in a restaurant. Hugo left Goa in August 2001 to, what he called 'an unknown destination.'
