The National Productivity Council (NPC) has proposed to undertake a pilot project to increase the productivity of the Government departments in Goa. The proposal of the project, involving a cost of Rs 1.3 crore, has been submitted to the State government for seeking its help in identifying the potential areas of improvement, including restructuring of departments for improved productivity. NPC's Director General Dr Kamal Taori told media persons here today that the main thrust of the council was to identify the untapped productive elements in rural and urban areas and encourage them in all respects in the globalised era. "We have to change our mindset in the globalised environment to tune-in with the trends for higher productivity, so as to face competition," he said. He said, Goa could become a model in productivity as it attained new heights in tourism and iron ore exports, while maintaining communal peace and harmony. NPC had also planned to hold a one-day session with Goan media on February 21 on 'Media, productivity and challenges in networking'. NPC is a constituent of Tokyo-based Asian Productivity organisation, an inter-governmental body of which Government of India is a founder-member, engaged in promoting all-round productivity culture in the country.(UNI)
