NYC Nite in Kuwait
Navelim Youth Centre had their annual "NYC Nite" programme on 1st September 2005. The evening was full of fun: dancing, partying, enjoying the warmth of friends and being delighted at every turn. The celebration was a perfect ambience in the background of fabulous décor, dazzling lighting and lavish luxury...The only enemy that was going to come between the people and the jovial music and dance was - time. The crowd danced their heart out till it was time to go..... as the party grew progressively longer going on till the wee hours of dawn. The Nite was set rolling with local favorites Stepping Stones hitting off with melodious numbers. The visiting Goan celebrities, 'SkyHigh' thereafter increased the tempo intermingling current chart toppers and hits of yesteryears. They kept the crowd grooving to the beat all night long. The show was hosted by Master Compere Lloyd DSouza. The organizers left no stone unturned to give their guests a pleasant time. The NYC committee comprises of: Agnello A.S. The eight finalists selected after the first round danced like butterflies. It was pleasing to watch them. NYC Nite - some on and off comments: "Simply amazing..." Proprietor, V4U Establishment. Their perfectly matched body structures and harmonizing personalities made them one of the most attractive 'jivers' on the floor. Diana Rodrigues and Augustine David won the second prize. NYC President Agnello A.S. Fernandes gave much credit and importance to the shows sponsors, guests and people who patronized the event. In the colourful souvenir, NYC President wrote: "Navelim Youth Centre (NYC) has been one of the pioneering social organizations in Kuwait to bring everyone together and regale in celebration of highest quality. In Kuwait, NYC celebrates their annual village feast of Our Lady of Rosary, the patroness of Navelim Church in the month of November. Incidentally, NYC was the first among the Goan football teams in the Gulf region to have a website of their own - a solo effort by Allan Savio Fernandes (now studying in the U.S. and the son of NYC President). Related NYC activities and reports are archived at Gasper'sWorld - a personal website of NYC Gen. Secretary, Gasper Crasto - a former Salgaonkar ace footballer. NYC's contribution towards the cost of construction of the Rosary College premises as well as the Nazareth Home for the Aged and support towards the needy back home as well as the personal Navelim villagers generous contributions is commendable. The popular and prestigeous NYC Rolling Trophy insituted by them has done 15 successful editions. Indeed it is worth noting that NYC football team has won every competitive trophy at stake for Indian expatriates in Kuwait. - Report by www.goa-world.com team.
