Just before the 5 am churchbells rang my journo colleague Niraj Naik's breaking news service (which also comes in via SMS) beeped silently on my mobile to say, "Lakhs of rupees worth property and important records gutted in fire that broke at Margao Urban Cooperative bank premises in Margao. Fire extinguishing work going on."
Thought of sharing this with you. We've had a lot of mysterious fires in Goa, including in government offices, and questions don't get asked once the records are lost. Dunno what category this fire falls in. Senior citizen and early riser Ms Maria Aurora Couto of Carona Aldona has written in to say that her Goanet postings have not been getting through. Yesterday, Cecil sent in a similar note. So did Melinda Powell earlier.... Goa's main ISP Sancharnet.in has been bouncing mail like crazy. To lessen the load on the Goanet server, any address that repeatedly bounces mail is shifted to the 'no mail' option. Strangely, one reader in Goa found that her Goanet-Digest had stopped, but the Goanet-News postings were coming through! If anything like this happens to you, please note that you need to get in touch with [EMAIL PROTECTED] and request to be shifted back from the no-mail option. Guess I'm rambling on just because it's past 5 am and am feeling sleepy. Off to bed... FN
