Not all Tarvotti's wives are like that..there maybe few who think that way.. and there is a reason why they want them to join the ship after 3 months. . You may be aware that 'Tarvottis' in Goa are horrad and they are the ones who spend the most, after the gulfies n foreigners. Having spent 9 months on board the ship they come down for a holiday and they give their best to the family, not only their wives n children but even their parents n other members in the family. They spend their entire earnings in Goa, so by the end of the 3rd month they are almost broke. Sometimes their stay is more than 6 months (depends on the co.) n there is no other income for them. They do not get paid for those long holidays,...they have to wait for the call..n sometimes the company does not bother send a call if u dont take any interest in joining.... and in such circumstances...if the wives remind them then its in the interest of the family, cause they are the ones who manage n take decissions in the house when the tarvottis are away..
