Dear all,
Just come back from Nagapatinam (near Madras, Tamil
Nadu, India). I have now got a clearer picture.
Tsunami-the killer wave, very very big or giant wave
comes out of the sea all of a sudden with just sea
water and rolls back with men, animals and properties.
The First such wave hit around 9am on 26th Dec. Then,
in just about 15 minutes, there come another one even
more powerful than the first. So powerfull that all
the fishing boats/ Trawlers were pushed away from the
the shore to nearby railway tracks. One could still
see fishing trawlers piled up on top of other.
Another unusual thing I have noted, people there, has
developed hatred for fish (which otherwise was their
staple food being coastal areas). Menu cards
(restaurant etc) still list variety of fish dishes
under 'Sea Food' but none available and it could take
very long time to see fish back on their plates. When
asked, I was told they could see several dead bodies
with half or full fingers or other body parts missing.
I loved each and every day I spent there (away from
TV, my mobile, camera, friends etc). I will never
forget the time I spend with the local kids most
evenings, where I played sort of a 'Father Xmas'
role. It started with just 5 kids and gone up to 55
kids. I am glad I have spent it (money) my way.
