Goa BJP holds protest rally, disrupts road traffic
Panaji | February 14, 2006 9:46:10 PM IST

"Party workers blocked the one-km-long Mandovi bridge that leads to the
new Assembly complex at Porvorim, disrupting traffic on the
Panaji-Mumbai highway for about three hours.
The blockade caused much suffering to the public whose woes were
compounded with armed riot police blocking traffic rom the Assembly
complex side. Hundreds of people, with loads on their heads, were seen
walking down the bridge on either side to reach their destinations,
and hundreds of vehicles were left stranded."

Nasci Caldeira says:
Why were these protesters not lathi charged and or arrested and prevented from, "blocking and disrupting Traffic" ?? They should have conducted their protests off the highways and organised to help keep the traffic flowing. What they did, was not practice of democratic right of protest but sheer hooliganism, and unneccessary hardship to the public. Why?
