Live out that dream with your kids this summer ! *Stay over at the Cajueiro Homestead in Valpoi and join up with your children and friends to make one with Facilitiator , Vishal Rawley.* Enjoy nutritious local meals made from farm produce, take a Urrak /Nero break, go for a dip in a stream, pluck and sort cashews, watch how Urrak and Feni is made and enjoy the summer! *The idea is to set up a network of such 'nature-observation-posts' all over Goa - built and managed by the people, specially children.* OBSERVE NATURE: add a birdbath, a feeder, a camera trap, record sounds... Identify local plants, trees, fruits, berries, birds and insects, understand their foodchains and lifecycles... Make a bio-diversity register... LEARN: to build, to design, to use tools, climb trees, make knots... HAVE FUN: add a swing, a wind chime, solar lights, organise games, invite people to your tree house and visit theirs... FOR: All ages but specially children. Ideally a batch of 5-10 people. *DURATION: 6 hours a day- 14-16 April, 2017 * WILL PROVIDE: guidance and basic tools and materials. We will work with : scrap wood, bamboo poles, planks, rope, wire, cloth, strips of fabric, tattered chattais, tyres, rubber tubes... We are building a nest. Think like a bird. Get whatever you find that shall be useful. Trained as a filmmaker, he started out as a storyboard artist for feature films and then as a director for documentary films. Now working across media, Rawlley is a graphic designer, digital artist and maker of interactive installations. His current focus is on ‘Public Art’ and using it to engage local communities into civic action. Rawlley has been awarded with several prestigious national and international grants, fellowships and residencies in areas like design research, art experimentation and youth mentorship. These awards include the Daniel Langlois Art and Science grant, the Sarai research fellowship, PUKAR youth mentorship, Khoj Design Residency, Open Space fellowship, art grants from Pro Helvetica and Goethe Institut among others. He is the current recipient of the FICA public art grant for the year 2016-17. Rawlley has designed several workshops and training modules. He has taught in colleges of architecture, design and media in Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur and Goa. He has also conducted workshops with several NGOs for tribal women, rural communities, slum children, and urban youth.
