DEMOCRACY REQUIRES TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY
The Supreme Court frustrated with dealing with 10 parties in Bihar polls not
updating their criminal anticedents nor legislature taking any action lamented
that parties will not act against criminalization of politics! The recent
cabinet expansion by the PM with 77 ministers has 42% with declared criminal
anticedents. Parties swear by "winnable" candidates. We now have Parliament in
session and the Pegasus snoopgate where the government will not admit to
survellience on political rivals, reporters, anyone crticizing/impediment to
government despite competent foreign forensic and local circumstantial
evidence. Similarly denying in Parliament that there were any deaths due to
oxygen shortages on procedural and technical grounds! This they cannot get away
with because there are deaths and people involved seen worldwide live on
Television and democracy is all about people who will not tolerate this blatant
denial by the Centre and the States who simply cannot tell the truth because
they say India is growing fabulously under the decisive leadership of the PM,
and everyone is jealous wanting to tarnish India's image. So no need to see how
demonitization achieved its aim and at what costs, lockdown with 4 hrs notice
before midnight caused migrant exodus ,trauma and avoidable deaths also due
badly handled second Covid wave, Delhi riots, farmers agitation etc all of
which government claims to have no specific records! The statements in
Parliament are there now for all to see and for the nation to act to be worthy
of democracy! Farmers are still agitating against an arrogant and stubborn
governemnt who is oblivious of the trauma and pain of families involved just
really for demonstrating its strength and ego. It is such a simple procedural
matter for a buldozing majority government who pay lip service to the plight
and sufferings of the powerless and poor! The petrol hikes and soaring high
prices of essentials pauperizing the suffering people during these Covid and
monsoon days with resultant deaths and terrible roads, crumbling
infrastructure etc is unforgivable and must have consequences!
