Lockdown has postponed, delayed the spread. It has not wiped out the scourge
of pandemic South Asia including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal Pakistan
have taken laudable steps very early and succeeded well India too has taken
harsh measures and considering the density of population is praise worthy by
world standards But it did it delay implementation dueto some political
compulsions as some seem to suggest and it does have merit
The models followed in west UK, USA,Spain, Italy France, South Korea, Japan
Sweden, Switzerland are at variance with each other The consequences of
casualties of death and spread do not to seem to bother them The economy and
health are being looked at simultaneously and post lockdown scenario is a
calculated risk
In India it is a war like situation .people are too seriously concerned with
food supply, unemployment ,economic meltdown

When the lockdown is even partially lifted will it be alarming on rise of
positive cases?
How with such density of population will social distancing be possible in
busses, trains, work place , markets? Our personal hygiene ,health services
, availability of health workers, facilities, medicines will be stretched to
maximum. Are we considering herd immunity with 60 percent of infections and
consequences on 1.3 billion people. Will it not be suicidal in terms of
fatalities? Are masks of quality freely available, testing widely ,kits to
traverse the last mile in social distancing and prevent spread. ?If the vaccine
isnot available soon then the situation will be worst than anticipated in
worst case scenario
The option is to continue lockdown with restrictions with masks , testing in
large numbers
However the restrictions on
mass gatherings ,celebrations etc must continue .Employers must test their
employees, provide transport ,masks and contain fall out with interaction with
others Restrictions on public transport by train, bus ,air must continue.
Interstates transport must be carefully monitored and restricted rigorously to
essential goods and persons concerned .International travel , tourism must
follow rigid guidelines. How will sanitatisation in public transport will be
attended too ? The positive cases are bound to rise during monsoon along
with seasonal illnesses
