Despite very stiff opposition from the St Cruz BJP Block, Manohar Parrikar
has been strongly lobbying for the very controversial Anil Hoble to be the
party’s candidate from St Cruz Constituency for the ensuing Assembly
elections to be held in February.
Isn’t it shameful that Anil Hoble is being fielded despite being held
guilty by the National Green Tribunal of having violated various provisions
of the environmental laws and was even fined 20 lakhs for
destroying mangroves and doing illegal land filling. That verdict was later
even upheld by the Supreme Court.
The NGT has also ordered the demolition of Hoble River Lounge Bar and
Restaurant along the Ribandar- Panaji causeway which was though illegal
inaugurated by then Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on 1st April 2014. But
Anil Hoble has been able to flex his political muscles and delay that
demolition.
The voters of St Cruz Constituency who have repeatedly very rightly
rejected Anil Hoble will now have to once again in public interest show him
the door.
